    The region is famous for its almonds, which have become an important source of income for local producers. The Datça almond has many varieties, some of which are endemic to the region and cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The most sought-after variety of almond is called “nurlu.” It has a green outer shell and is known as “çağla” when it is fresh. Used for everything from oil to sweets, almonds come in many different shapes and varieties in Datça: almond paste, almond cookies, almond and fig dessert, almond candy, Turkish delight with almond, and even almond coffee which is prepared with milk.
